Flower Training – Blossoming from Your Youth
For many people in the florist field, their flower training began at an early age. Perhaps it started so innocently by picking a nice bouquet of lovely dandelions or daisies for mom or grandma and being made a fuss over for being so thoughtful. Children learned the names of common flowers from their parents, grandparents and relatives. Children also learned that giving flowers brings joy to the person they gave the flowers to.
For professionals and students of the floral trade there are also many options available for flower training. There are flower training programs including everything from flower designing, flower cutting, flower preservation, flower nomenclature, flower gardening, flower care, and even flower photography, etc.
For professionals, there are flower training sessions held by local wholesaler’s and industry trade groups. It is all part of the continuing education process for industry professionals.
Students of the floral trade can learn all about flowers through specific educational classes. Floral schools are a good place to start for someone just starting out in the floral field. These schools offer flower training classes covering all aspects of flowers. Additionally, partnering up with an experienced florist is another great way to receive flower training.
Another favorite place for flower training is the local bookstore or library. There are many flower books available that will teach a person all about flowers. There are books dedicated solely to different types of flowers, like flower encylopedia’s, and there are books focused on flower designs explaining different techniques, etc.
Another fantastic resource for flower training is the internet. Use your favorite search engine and search on almost any flower term that you can think of and you will discover an endless sea of resources at your disposal.
