Florist Training – from Classroom to On-the-Job…

Florist training is available through several different methods of delivery – on the job, classroom, seminars, correspondence school, or distance learning programs (internet based).  Depending upon the method selected, the florist training may include “hands on” application, “observation/demonstration” , lecture,   reading, and/or practice sessions.

From experience, the best florist training is typically delivered in a focused setting and also in a  real florist setting.  This includes florist training at an actual florist shop from a professional florist that is known for their design skills.

When starting out in the florist field, it is highly recommended that florist training is obtained from an established professional florist known for their design skills.  These skills are transferable through on the job florist training.  Specifically, the student will be able to become immersed into the actual environment and experience true learning from a “start to finish” situation.

To broaden your florist training, seek out additional professional florists for further learning opportunities.  It’s best to learn unique skills and techniques from multiple florists.  Many professional florists are masters of a particular design style or have their preferences for design.  They will teach their unique skills and when combined together you will receive a much more rounded florist training.  Learning from multiple florists enables students to develop their own unique blended style.

Classroom training is also a good way to receive florist training, however no class room training can ever substitute for excellent on-the-job florist training from a professional well-kown florist.  Hands on practical experience almost always will yield much more effective learning opportunities than what can be obtained in a classroom setting.
