Florist Course – Learn the basic skills…

Like any other career choice it takes training to become a good or great florist.  There are lots of way to get this training.  Along with on the job training while working in a florist shop, a person can also register for and take a florist course.  The advantage of taking a florist course is that the student will learn the basic and proper design skills necessary to succeed in the florist field.

A good florist course will include a combination of lecture time or explanation, demonstration and hands-on application of techniques being taught.  At a minimum a good and  legitimate florist course should cover topics such as fundamentals of design, color concepts, proper flower handling and treatment, and the demonstration of various floral equipment and tools.

In larger cities there are typically several choices of  courses available to students of the floral trade, while in smaller towns florist course offerings may be non-existent or very limited and/or informal.

It is best to learn from a professional floral instructor who has first hand experience working as a florist.  The professional floral instructor will be able to relate the course material to real life situations and provide explanations applicable to the trade.  Additionally, they will be able to provide unique tips and tricks that they have learned from their own personal experiences.

Designing fabulous flower arrangements is made easier by taking a florist course.  The basic fundamentals that are taught in a florist course are really all that is required to get started successfully in the florist field.
