Floral School – Which Students Get Hired?
There are many reasons to attend a floral school. The most common reason to is learn how to become a florist or floral designer. Most floral schools have specific programs to teach students all of the necessary skills to succeed in the florist industry.
Being a florist means having a very tactile career which is ever changing. For these two very reasons I always recommend that the first choice in education for a career in floristry is to work for a well respected florist. The hands-on learning with a live mentor on a daily basis will provide incredible learning opportunities which just can not be obtained anywhere else.
For those who don’t have the opportunity to start a florist career by working in an established florist, then the next best choice is to attend a floral school. Attending a floral school is a great option for those looking to enter the florist field without previous experience or training.
There are some fantastic floral schools that offer excellent educational programs. They will offer floral courses or classes from the beginner level to the advanced level, along with floral operations education. It is important to point out that there are floral schools that offer better programs than others. The best way to find this out is to search for those that have the highest recommendations from professionals working in the florist field.
To determine which floral schools are highly recommended begin by asking those who are already working in the field (florist, floral designer, flower wholesaler, etc.) what floral school they would suggest a new student to attend. Ask the florist or floral design manager a specific question such as, “from what school would you hire students that complete a floral education program?” Another great question to ask is “which floral school program to stay away from?”.
The main purpose for attending a floral school is to end up getting a job working in a florist company or to start a new florist business. Therefore, you want to choose a floral school that has the highest recommendations from insiders who would either hire students from that school or they have attended the school themselves and recommend it.
