    Floral Design Jobs – Master the skills and Become the Expert

    Have you ever wondered what it would be like to work in floral design jobs?  It is an exciting job that keeps you quite busy, especially when working in a high volume florist shop.  Your job functions will vary depending upon your experience and skill levels, along with the number of employees working at any given time.

    The specific job tasks for a floral design jobs are vast and will vary by flower shop.  In some larger shops the specific responsibilities could be limited to one or two roles because there will be a staff of employees to handle the various responsibilities.  Some examples of jobs tasks in a larger flower shop assigned to one person could be creating floral designs to meet customer order requirements and processing all incoming flowers for use in arrangements.  Or, perhaps the responsibilities could be to answer all incoming telephone calls and providing walk-in customer service by accepting customer orders and their associated payments through the computer systems.  These are just some examples of the possible duties.


    In smaller florist shops, there typically are not too many employees and hence your floral design jobs may include handling most day-to-day flower shop responsibilities.  Example tasks include handling customer orders, providing excellent customer service, making suggestions to customers, inputting sales, processing customer orders including the acceptance of payments, scheduling orders for completion, creating designs as required per the individual orders, cleaning the flower shop floors, washing vases, keeping the shop looking clean, stocking floral supplies, accepting and processing incoming floral deliveries, cleaning and stocking coolers, preparing pre-sale arrangements for coolers, making ribbons, providing wedding consultations, etc.

    Floral design jobs will vary according to the flower shop that you end up working in.  In most cases, whether the shop is large or small, or the shop processes high volume orders versus low volume of orders it all comes down to teamwork.

    Being a flexible employee in floral design jobs will further your career as a florist.  The best florists have worked and understand the entire florist operation.  Therefore, mastering all of the florist skills for each responsibility will enable you to become the expert.  Experts get paid more, are trusted more, and go further in the trade.  Floral design jobs are a perfect place to start working in a florist.
