When it comes to a perfect bridal bouquet flower the white calla lily flower comes to mind.  This flower is absolutely beautiful, elegant, and stately.  It comes in handy to know the following information about calla lily flowers when choosing them for wedding flowers:

Calla lily flowers come in several different colors, sizes, and bloom styles.  The most common color selected for the wedding flowers is white, however there are several other choices that make for a beautiful bouquet including mango (which is my favorite), pink, purple, peach and yellow.  There are even green colored calla lily blossoms and spotted or multi-colored varieties as well. Wedding Church Flowers – Make The Perfect Selection

Now that wedding season is upon us, many brides-to-be and their future husbands have difficulty in choosing the right flowers for the church.  In some cases they neglect including their wedding church flowers all together which will be realized as a mistake later.  Because a big part of the special day is spent at the church (for those having church weddings), a big portion of the wedding photos will be taken there too.  The photo’s are the pictorial lasting memories of the special event and having the proper flowers in the church will support a proper wedding environment that will be reflected ultimately in photo’s later.  Therefore it is important to pay as much attention to the details of the wedding church flowers as the rest of the wedding planning.  Continue reading »

Floral Design Skills – Do They Really Matter?floral design skills

I’m now back on US soil…feels good after floating and sailing for the past 10 days.  In a recent post, I wrote about cruise ship flowers and expressed my disappointment with the lack of professional expertise and design skills of the hired floral personnel on the ship.  It really does a disservice to the floral profession and customers when non-trained individuals are employed as designers when it is quite apparent they lack the necessary skills to deliver quality products and creative designs.  Floral design skills do matter!      Valentines Day Planning – Not For the Faint of Heart!Valentines Day Planning

Valentines day planning – hmmm, now that is probably a dirty word phrase at this time of the year for florists.  This is one day of the year that florists learn to love even though they probably hate it, and it is just around the corner.  February 14th will be here in just a few weeks.

Most florists are impacted in a major way each year by this one day.  The reason there is a love-hate relationship with this day is because it is literally THE most profitable day of the year for florists, even though it is perhaps the most challenging day to deal with from a planning, operations, and customer service perspective.  Valentines Day business typically represents about 1/3 of a florists annual revenues.  This is the reason that Valentines day planning must begin much sooner than mid-January, and hopefully begins immediately after last years Valentines Day.  The biggest task is to minimize expenses while maximizing revenues.
